Chris Skoyles - Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist

Hello, my name is Chris Skoyles and I’m a professionally qualified solution-focused clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist.

I have a deep-rooted passion for helping others to create the kind of calm and positive mindset that helps them to confidently achieve whatever they want to achieve in life.

Whether that’s overcoming low-mood, low self-esteem, or low-confidence, finally finding freedom from unhelpful habits like smoking or succeeding with big, life-changing goals such as changing career or running a marathon, I work with you in a calm, confidential environment to change negative thought patterns to positive ones in a way that produces the long-lasting changes you want to make.

This isn’t just about temporarily feeling calmer after our sessions (though most clients tell me that does happen!), it’s about rediscovering the real you and regaining control of your life now and in the future.

I do this using an approach known as solution-focused hypnotherapy, a combination of hypnosis and psychotherapy backed by the latest neuroscientific research.

My Qualifications

I trained with the prestigious Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training school in Manchester.

There, I earned both my Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and the Level 4 Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) which is considered to be the gold standard in hypnotherapy qualifications and nationally recognised by the NCFE.

I also hold a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills and am currently working towards my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at The City of Liverpool College.

Why I Became a Hypnotherapist – My Story

I discovered hypnotherapy quite by accident but it proved to be the best discovery I’ve ever made.

A long-term relationship had ended. I was struggling with depression. Some days I could barely get out of bed, and if I did, I found I only had the energy to flop myself on the sofa and watch Netflix all day. I was three stone (42 lbs) overweight, smoked almost 40 cigarettes a day, ached all over, was constantly exhausted and was generally in very poor physical, mental, and emotional health.
I’d been to the doctors multiple times for help with my mood and mental health, only to find myself constantly disappointed and frustrated by the fact that any support that was offered was minimal and ineffective.

Feeling desperate, I started looking around for ways that I could begin to help myself get better and stumbled, first into Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and then into hypnotherapy.

Very quickly, I started to discover what a tremendous positive difference it could make in my life. I finally turned Netflix off, began to get up off the couch and go outside. Before I knew it, I was walking taller, smiling brighter, and feeling better than I ever had before.

More importantly, over the next few years I would:

Overcome my depression
Gain all-new levels of confidence and self-esteem
Quit smoking completely
Lose the three stone (and a bit more!)
Run two marathons (plus countless half-marathons, 10ks and other races)
Start training for a new career (hypnotherapy and counselling)
Achieve many of my “bucket list” goals
Develop a new, positive outlook on life, a new sense of freedom and purpose.

I did all this (and more) using the very same tools, techniques, and methods that I now use with my clients when we work together.
